THE THEATRE One of our slogans in the Kingsway Hall Trust has been that we are "Preserving a Past and Creating a Future", and perhaps our theatre isa prime example of that: to create a theatre from a fine Victorian church building has been one of our biggest challenges and achievements. Where once were pulpit and lectern there is now the extended stage you see in the diagram, and the normal seating of a Victorian church is now replaced by comfortable, cushioned seating, which may be set out or removed as required. A considerable amount of money has been spent, too, on setting up a powerful array of lights, focussed on the stage area, and audio equipment, for transmitting music or voice to the speakers on the side walls. The stage is now closed by red velvet curtains. Having so recently achieved this creation of a stage, we now look for theatrical talent who will be pleased to make use of it - and who may, perhaps, suggest ways to improve it!
